International visit from University of Zaragoza!

15 maart 2017 door HAN Sport en Bewegen

Last week 8-10 March 2017, three researchers from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) visited HAN University Sports & Exercise to get to know each other and exchange ideas about research projects related to the promotion of physical activity. Luis García-Gonzalez, Angel Abos and Javier Sevil are from the EFYPAF research group, Spanish acronym of “Physical Education and Physical Activity Promotion” and presented their European Project “Capas-cité/Capas-Ciudad”, a Pyrenees’ centre for the attention and promotion of physical activity for health. This project is focused on developing actions to promote physical activity and creating synergies between agents to increase healthy behaviors in Secondary School children, to promote active commuting in the cities and also to develop specific strategies for disadvantaged populations.

During the research visit, they met with John Dierx and Gwendolijn Boonekamp to talk about the SALVO project, with Jan Willem Theunissen, Sebastiaan Platvoet and Walter Leurink to talk about collaboration between schools, neighborhoods and sports associations from the perspective of Physical Education and talent recognition and enhancement, and also about motor skills learning to promote physically active lifestyles. They also met with Floris Wardenaar to share some ideas related to sports nutrition and promoting healthy habits. Finally, they visited some places designed to promote physical activity in a friendly environment like Groesbeek forest and other exercise friendly public spaces, talking with Wilfried Deelen about these designs.

Another part of the visit was focused to build an Erasmus+ agreement between HAN University and the University of Zaragoza, trying to link students and teachers in the field of sport sciences. The researchers acknowledge the warm welcome of the staff of HAN Sports & Exercise, remarking the high applied work of the staff.
