On the 26 of May 2011, two teams of students from the HAN University of Applied Sciences participated in the “Financial Management Talent Prize”. Companies presented a challenging financial case for which the students had to find a solution within 4 hours and present it. Xi Ye a student of Arnhem Business School shares his experience at the “Financial Management Talent Prize”.

It was pretty interesting for me, a non-Dutch speaker to join in the competition. The overnight in Hampshire Hotel was fantastic. I really enjoyed the exclusive dinner and the inside swimming pool. I met a guy in the bar who used to work as an analyst in pension funds. It must be some signs or signals God offer to me because the next day we were faced with the case about risk management in pension funds. What a coincidence!

I really appreciate my group members’ patience in translation especially for Joel Ijsselstijn. It was an outstanding opportunity for me to get a sense of pension funds and a great experience in sharing expertise and learning from each other. I highly enjoyed the teamwork spirit throughout the entire case. It was really cool and I was proud of being part of it.

During the break, it was so nice to hear some professionals talk about how they started, which gives me some clues about how to better position myself in my future career.

I hope to have fun again with all of you and of course become the winning team!
